Why is my water pump not pumping water?
1. Air trapped in suction line
Air pockets prevent the pump from creating proper vacuum pressure.
Solution:
- Re-prime the pump
- Tighten all suction pipe joints
- Check for leaks
2. Dry running condition
If the pump starts without water, it cannot generate flow.
Solution:
Install a dry-run protection switch or automatic controller.
3. Clogged inlet or impeller
Dirt, sand, or rust particles can block water flow.
Solution:
- Clean pump inlet
- Remove and inspect impeller
- Install a filter system
4. Low water source level
If water level is too low, the pump cannot draw water effectively.
Modern solution (Industry trend)
Many users are switching to:
- Permanent magnet motor pumps
- Solar water pump systems
- Smart LCD controlled pumps
These systems reduce failure rate and improve long-term stability.
